Do you have any notes, quotes, or key takeaways from any of the elders during the Wisdom Keepers circle for World Indigenous Peoples Day? I'd love to see what moved you!
Where am I?
In Sneha Sacred you can ask and answer questions and share your experience with others!
It was my first time joining any kind of indigenous ceremony and I am in awe. I was born in Mexico City and I was never taught my indigenous roots but I am seeking them now. Colonialism diluted my knowledge of my origins quite a lot. I remember asking my great grandmother and my grandmother about our indigenous origins but they didn't seem to know either. Just by the location, I assume I have Mexica/Aztec ancestry but how to really know?
Anyhow, I wanted to reconnect with ancient sacred knowledge in the hopes to remember my roots and be able to plant the seeds for my younger generations. A people without their history become lost. Thank you for the abuelitas and abuelitos that keep this knowledge and wisdom alive. I will continue my search. Love, Paola.
The entire event moved me. Thank you, it was so beautiful to be with the elders as they shared their wisdom. My heart was especially touched by the ceremony with the Cruz family and with the Tatas from the pueblo who came to share their music for the first time online. That was precious. Also, the 3 sister healers were powerful, one of the sister abuelas described her experience becoming a sacred plant medicine healer, when young and wanting to know the plants the elders said to her,... "first, cleansing and purification... first, how is your heart?" .
The entire event moved me--the participants, the talks, the ceremonies, the music, the honesty, their call for support. Even the individuals who were translating were incredible both in their skill and in the love and respect that they demonstrated towards the elders. Were they translating from notes or memory? I am hoping that they, or someone, has notes of the talks and can share them? It was a long event; I missed some portions and I would like to learn about what else was covered. I am also convinced that their message and call for support needs to be broadcast broadly beyond the event itself. Is that possible? Thank you in advance.
